Review: Skinc Replenish Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Recived this serum when I purchased a magazine sometime ago, was rather skeptical when I first use it as the manufacturing date of this proudct was 2 years ago. However, I am curious about Skinc as I have walked past their concept store in Ion many a times and was intrigued by the bar concept. The little I know about Skinc is that they do customisation for skincare and there is 0 parabens and 0 scent in their products.

Without further delay, I bring you the Skinc Replenish Hyaluronic Acid Serum.

According to the product description on the official website, the Replenish Hyaluronic Acid Serum is able to hold 6 litres of water per gram, the Hyaluronic Acid is able to bind moisture to the skin for instant lasting hydration from within. Lines are refined and skin is plump and smooth.

Skinc Replenish Hyaluronic Acid Serum - 20ml or 0.68fl oz

 List of Ingredients

In terms of packaging, I like the feel of being able to see the contents clearly (the coloured balls suspended in the serum is indeed cute, at least to me). However, just like products contained in jars I am not too fond of the way the serum is packed. Constant exposure to air and bacteria in the air might cause the active ingredients (if there is any) to lose their effectiveness. In this case, I am not too sure about the active ingredients, I just like my serum to be housed in a enclosed bottle with pump to dispense the product.

The clinical looking bottle.

1 single drop of the serum

 Spreaded out- watery consistency

Seems to transform from a thicker to water-like texture

 Aftermath

True to what was promised, there is 0 scent detected. Texture-wise, the liquid gel like serum spread across the surface of the skin effortlessly, the slightly thick serum transformed into somewhat water-like texture when spreaded and the serum gets absorbed into the skin quickly. There is also a slight cooling sensation when I was applying the serum to my face, which I quite like.

I include the serum as part of my usual night time skincare routine and actually came to like it alot as I do feel my skin nicely moisturised and it has that 'plump' with water feel. After absorption, the serum does not leave any sticky flim, my face felt comfortable even without the moisturiser (on normal days), I can actually skip the face cream part.

All in all, I felt the serum does perform the hydration function properly for me (I think it largely depends on your skin type as well, for gals with dry skin the moisturiser part should not be skipped) but as for the hefty price tag that comes with it, one can't help but felt turned away.

It is a decent hydration serum but I do believe there are many products in the market that are able to perform this function equally well at a fraction of the price.

If budget has never been a constraint for you, then you might want to give this a try.

Priced at S$128.00 for 20ml or 0.68fl oz, available at http://www.iloveskininc.com/ or at their concept/ specialty stores around Singapore.

Promotion and Review: Nuxe Multi-Usage Dry Oil with Singapore Women's Weekly

I chanced upon this magazine promotion in Kinokuniya Bookstore at Ngee Ann City while I was on my way home from work, since I am rather fond of Nuxe Multi-Usage Dry Oil's versatility and texture, I figure it is worth a mention here.

Currently with every purchase of a copy of Singapore Women's Weekly, you get to receive a deluxe bottle (30ml) of the famous Multi-Usage Dry Oil which in my opinion is a steal if you take into account that a full sized bottle of the oil (100ml) is retailing at about S$70 plus or so.

There is a "Offer Gift" tag printed on the bottle, so I figured it should be part of some offer or promotion which I don't really mind. The 10ml bottle that I had gotten previously lasted me quite a while, so this 30ml would definitely make fans of the oil happy .

Of course, this would be absolutely worth it if you are a privilege card holder of the store, you get to enjoy 10% off.

A good chance to try this stuff if you are new to it and would like to test out something for a reasonable period of time instead of splurging alot of money in something that might or might not work for you.

Promotion and Review: Elle Singapore August Issue and Nuxe Beauty Kit

So much things to do and yet so little time.

I am still in the midst of sorting out my living space and given the amount of room i have to work with, each and every item has to be carefully planned for.

Of course, the only exception would be personal grooming products (yes, skincare, cosmetics and such) : ).

Ok, i am drifting away from the point of this post......

Elle Singapore August issue is having a promotion with French Skincare brand NUXE, with purchase of every copy of the magazine (and this issue comes with the Elle Beauty Book 2012), one gets a beauty kit consisting of the famous Huile Prodigieuse 10ml (multi-usage dry oil for face, body and hair), Reve De Miel 15ml  (face and body ultra-rich cleansing gel for dry and sensitive skin) and Nuxe Body 15ml (24hr moisturizing body lotion for dry skin). Apart from those beauty freebies, one gets a waterproof toiletries pouch (which comes in blue or orange) and a S$5.00 voucher from Beauty by Nature (expiry date of voucher is 30th September 2012).

I have used Nuxe's Aroma-perfection Purifying Cleansing Gel and the Gentle Toning Lotion with Rose Petals and is quite fond of them, thus curiosity sets in the moment i knew of the promotion and i gotten a set with me home.

Elle Singapore August issue with Elle Beauty Book 2012 and Nuxe Beauty Kit.

Nuxe- My Beauty Kit.

                                                     Short description of the products.

List of ingredients.

The famous Huile Prodigieuse (versatile enough for face, body and hair).

The watery light texture of the oil.

The oil gets absorbed rather fast and dries with a sheen.

Even though i have oily combination skin, i am not against the idea of using oil on my skin type, well depending on the properties of the oil and its usage. So far i have yet to encounter breakouts due to usage of facial treatment oil (i have used Paul & Joe's as well as Clarins), naturally i am interested to find out how the Nuxe's famous oil would fare on me. The texture is lighter than those of Paul & Joe and Clarins, i find that it seems to be able to seep into the skin easier than the two, and it has a drier finish. I have to blot the excess oil off my face for Paul & Joe and Clarins, i don't have to for Nuxe's. I skipped my moisturiser and woke up with my face feeling a tad softer, not greasier. However, having said that it is not supposed to be used everyday, think of it as a treatment oil, 2 to 3 times a week is sufficient.

While Paul & Joe's treatment oil has a nice orange blossom fragrance (if it is bottled as a fragrance, it might be a bestseller for Paul & Joe.... pity they no longer have a counter in Singapore), Clarins smelt largely of plants extracts (a little botanical?), Nuxe's resembles a fragrance (floral ?).

I would prefer to use it on my body more than my face for now, perhaps due to the scent.

Nuxe 24 hr Moisturizing Body Lotion for dry skin.
                                                                 Slightly thick texture.

The lotion spreads thin on the skin, felt very much water based.

                                                       After application of the lotion.

As for the body lotion, i kind of like the water based texture. Unlike some body lotion, it doesn't leave a sticky film and greasy touch even after it should have been absorbed by the skin. It smells a little nutty (not too fond of the scent) but i like the aftermath of applying the body lotion- soft and smooth skin.

I am liking this one.

Nuxe Reve de Miel- face and body ultra-rich cleansing gel.
The watery gel texture of the cleansing gel.

It foams easily but not much and the foams formed are quite fine.

After rinsing off the cleansing gel.

The cleansing gel is supposed to be suitable for both the face and body, i wasn't too impressed by its cleasning ability on the face (i don't like the feel of it, feels like a thin flim on the skin after rinsing),but on the body i like the scent of it as a body wash. Given the price point, it would be quite alright for a facial wash but very expensive for a body wash.

Still sitting on the fence for this one.

                                                   The waterproof toiletries pouch.
It is roomy enough to house my body wash, shampoo, facial wash, body lotion (all travel sized) and still has plenty of room to spare.

I like the fact that the toiletries pouch is roomy enough to house all the necessary that one needs to haul for a trip to gym or even a week's supply for a holiday, plus it is waterproof. My concern is, the material of the pouch doesn't look like it is built to last, i guess since i got it for free there won't be any heart pain if it tears and needs to be trashed at the end of the day.

The S$5.00 gift voucher that comes with it (terms and conditions stated at the back of the voucher).

Now that will come useful if i need to haul anything soon. Good thing the expiry date of the voucher is 30th September 2012. Plenty of time to contemplate what to buy.

I like to read about product reviews and comparisons, especially if its low price point vs high price point and function vs value, which is why i am looking forward to magazines like VOCE.

The Beauty Book 2012 is perhaps trying to be one but i do find that most of the product reviews are of brands that we already know, those that we are all too familar with. I am not a beauty guru and what i blogged about is all my personal experience and opinion of things i would like to share. Everyday should be a learning day, sometimes i felt perhaps that is one of the reason why i stopped reading local fashion or beauty magazines for quite some time.

Why not up game by doing the comparison across price points and maybe more write ups on more obscure upcoming brands ?

In this issue of Elle Beauty Book 2012.

What i do like about this issue is the spread about upcoming fashion talents and their works, as well as the bit on fashion news. I like to see and read about beautiful things, that gives me inspiration on what to buy next and even what to do next.

                                                                  Styles to look out for.
Spreads dedicated to feature upcoming fashion talents.

Promotion: Crabtree and Evelyn with Hello Kitty

Crabtree & Evelyn has once again collaborated with Hello Kitty to launch GWPs, cute the Kitty might have been but cuteness comes at a price if you can afford it......

The collaboration.

The GWPs for various amount spent on Crabtree & Evelyn's products.

GWPs consist of tea cups and saucers, plates and tea sets.

Coupons with S$ off if your purchase runs up to a certain amount.

Terms and conditions.

I am not sure if this collaboration is going to suceed in making more gals to hand in their dough, it is just beyond me that one spends that much just for the GWP. Please don't get me wrong, i am not a Hello Kitty hater (I can't be one, for my sister is a hard core fan and i have lived with her all my life along with Hello Kitty), nor i dislike Crabtree & Evelyn's products. In fact, i haul like nobody's business when a certain range appeals to me.

Okie, basically here's how it works.....

If you are drawn to Hello Kitty's cuteness and spend above S$180.00 nett in a single receipt, you get 2 sets of tea cups with saucers.

If you like Hello Kitty enough to see her everyday, and is willing to spend up to S$320.00 nett in a single receipt, you get those 2 sets of tea cups and saucers, they throw in 4 small plates as well.

Finally, if you can't live without Hello Kitty and no word other than "love" can describe your intimate relationship with her, handover S$460.00 nett in a single receipt and, get all that people who spent S$180.00 and S$320.00 will get, you get a whole high tea set as well which comprise of a tea pot, a tea cup with saucer, a small plate and a 2 tier cake stand free!

Once you have gotten all that, now you just need to figure how you are going to use up all that S$460.00 worth of handcream, body wash, body cream, fragrances, soaps, scrubs and etc etc......unless you are hauling Christmas presents for your family and friends too, otherwise it is simply beyond me to imagine one could possibly finish up all the products that amount of money can buy.

I love Crabtree & Evelyn's products, in fact i have backups for things i love from them, but not this kind of promotion.....

What i would like to see from them?

More quality products and innovative ones as well, please.

Just my humble 2 cents worth.

Note: No feline was harmed in the writing of this post.

Interestingly the tree logo reminds me of Origins's as well as Nuxe's......seems like beauty brands nowadays has the tendency to go "natural" to appeal to the mass...

Promotion: Kenzo Flower Tag at Metro Paragon

Metro Paragon will be having a promotion and exclusive launch for Kenzo's latest fragrance Flower Tag at Paragon Lobby from 23rd September to 29th September 2011 which coincides with their 20% storewide promotion from 23rd September to 25th September.

The Flower fragrance line has been rather popular (while Flower by Kenzo is still Kenzo's bestselling fragrance), and has spurn off quite a few other fragrances such as Flower Le Parfum, Flower Oriental and Flower by Kenzo Fleurs d'Hiver.

While Flower by Kenzo is what i seem to be wearing quite often nowadays, i am rather intrigued by this latest addition to the Flower line. According to the introduction of the fragrance on the leaflet i received, it looks like Flower Tag would be a Fruity Floral which is very different from the Woody powdery Flower by Kenzo that i have. I might check it out this Friday on the launch if time permits.

Description of the composition of the fragrance.

Free gifts for purchase of the fragrance at the launch at Metro Paragon.

The bottle looks interesting and the gifts with purchase is quite attractive too to those who are fans of Kenzo's fragrance line.

Will catch of whiff of the scent this Friday, hopefully Flower Tag doesn't disappoint.
